Braces

Tried, tested, and trusted — braces remain one of the most effective ways to achieve a beautifully aligned smile at any age.

Overview

The Gold Standard in Orthodontic Treatment

Braces have been straightening smiles for decades, and today's options are more comfortable, efficient, and even more discreet than ever before. At Bodine Orthodontics, we offer traditional metal braces as well as ceramic (tooth-colored) braces so you can choose the look that fits your lifestyle.

Braces work by applying consistent, gentle pressure to your teeth over time, gradually guiding them into their ideal positions. They're suitable for patients of all ages and can address a wide range of orthodontic issues — from simple crowding to complex bite problems.

Types of Braces

Which Braces Are Right for You?

Metal Braces

The most common and cost-effective option. Today's metal braces are smaller and more comfortable than earlier designs. Metal brackets and wires work together to move teeth efficiently, and you can even add colored bands to personalize your look.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces use tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend with your natural enamel, making them far less noticeable than metal. They work the same way as traditional braces but offer a more aesthetic option for patients who want a subtler appearance.

What to Expect

Your Braces Journey, Step by Step

1. Consultation & Records

Your first visit includes a thorough exam, X-rays, and photos so Dr. Bodine can build a complete picture of your teeth and jaw. We'll walk you through your treatment options and timeline, and answer every question you have — no pressure, no rush.

2. Placement Day

Placing your braces typically takes about an hour to an hour and a half. Brackets are bonded to your teeth and connected with an archwire. You may feel some soreness for the first few days as your teeth begin to respond — this is completely normal and usually resolves quickly.

3. Regular Adjustment Visits

You'll visit our office every 6–10 weeks for adjustment appointments. At each visit, we'll change your wires and monitor your progress. These appointments are usually brief — about 20–30 minutes.

4. Debonding & Retainers

When your treatment is complete, we'll remove your braces and take impressions or scans for your custom retainers. Retainers are essential for keeping your new smile in place — we'll explain everything you need to know about wearing them.

Timeline & Results

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Most patients wear braces for 18 to 24 months, though treatment time varies based on the complexity of your case. Mild alignment issues may resolve in as little as 12 months, while more involved bite corrections may take longer. Dr. Bodine will give you a personalized estimate at your consultation.
